Today will have slipped into tomorrow before we know it

‘Yes, well,’ I said, ‘I’m not going to talk about it anymore. For all I know you’re right.’

It’s my Birthday Weekend. I don’t have to work through things if I don’t want to.

Also, could someone please put that block of perfectly-formed, gorgeously-wrapped, buttery-yellow, organically-expensive butter in the fridge before the dog manages to jump those extra few millimetres (straight up and down from a standing start on his back legs, entertaining if disconcerting) and grab it from the bench.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to the lounge to recover from yesterday evening’s over-indulgence, while the mister goes in to Harris Scarfe to buy a new vacuum cleaner. No, that’s not my birthday present. We have to replace the one that we used to replace that one that got destroyed by the bat guano.

  1. A happy happy birthday to you.

I hope the weekend was suitably celebratory, and that Monday is wonderful also.

I shall eat cake all day in your honour.

  2. Happy birthday 3C.

I don’t have any cake in the house but I just ate a plate of cold roast potatoes (with sea salt) in your honour.

  3. Thanks everyone for birthday wishes. So far, being 39 is okay.

I love cold roast potatoes. With heaps of salt. My Dad used to have to cook about 30 potatoes so that there were enough for tea, supper and to put in our lunchboxes the next day.

Does your mum know your birthday is about to become Sorry Day, Drew? What does she think about it?

And PC…NO news. Which is not good news. Though not strictly bad news. If you know what I mean. I have had much good fortune of late. But still. You know.

  4. My motto for 39 was “I’m still in my thirties.” (perhaps it was my mantra?) Anyway you may have it now as I don’t need it any more. It’s my birthday present to you.

    Many happy returns.

  5. TC, our lives are going fast. I seem to get over here roughly every time you have a birthday. It means I should subscribe to your feed. I am doing it now.
Hope you had a great day 🙂

  6. I have subscribed now. But I know what’s tricked me into feeling time rocketing by – your category of ‘on being 38’. Probably supposed to have the reverse effect I guess.
